A 12-video playlist consisting of various non-traditional group theories. Many therapists assume Yalom is the only approach to group therapy. My hope is to understand that if Yalom is the smoothy of group theories: a blending the elements of other theories into common factors. Then this series provides an opportunity for you to taste the unique fruits of each theory to create your own unique style and approach that matches with your values, identity, and unique client needs.
How to Talk About Race and White Fragility as a Mental Health Provider
Today's current climate has highlighted ongoing racial injustice and caused broken hearts, feelings of rage, and staunch defensiveness. As a white-identified mental health provider, it is our job to educate one another to be able to focus on how systemic racism impacts our work and be cognizant of White detouring behaviors that serve as a defense to avoid our own feelings of shame and guilt being a part of a white supremacy society. This workshop, led by Vinny Dehili, PhD CGP, serves as a first-step in a long journey of white racial self-awareness, the defenses we use to avoid introspection, acceptance of the harm we cause to others, and steps to take to work towards engaging in anti-racist practices.
