Experiential Training Groups

Do you have a desire to learn group therapy to better integrate it into your practice but feel intimidated by the concept of being "in the process?"
One of the primary ways to learn is to engage first hand. This group trains mental health professionals and gives them an experience being part of an ongoing process group while the leader reflects on multiple theoretical modalities at the end of session. This allows reflection on the theory, techniques, and roles that members took on during the group session.

Non-Yalom Group Theory Seminar

I created a 12-week Non-Yalom Group Theory Seminar to move towards increasing the diversity of the types of theories and practices we use in groups while attempting to hold a lens that honors the socio-cultural narratives throughout the group process.

Once a year, I lead my training groups through my Non-Yalom Group Theory seminar where we cover a novel group theory each week (e.g., Mentalization, Buddhist-Informed Gestalt, Tavistock, Jungian, Object Relations, Self-Psychology, Restorative Justice Circle Process, Lacanian, D&D Therapy, etc.) through free to access self-review articles and/or youtube videos covering the unique interventions, themes, and methods the theory uses to effect change in groups.

During the 1.5 hour training group session, I facilitate the group emulating that theory's style and approach to provide an experiential sampling of the unique group theory modalities. We then spend 30 minutes in a consultation space where we review the themes, and interventions used, and answer any questions folx have from that session or within their own groups.
